Tasting Notes

2017 La Fin

Made from 100% estate Chardonnay grapes, the 2017 La Fin was a bit of an experiment to bridge a dessert style and an off-dry wine.

Harvested from our fields a week after our 2017 Elizabeth Chardonnay was harvested, which allowed for slightly higher sugar levels and further flavor development.

It was fermented in stainless steel, and then set to rest in oak for close to 2 years.

The aromas give way to Dried apricot, candied lemon peel and raisins, with the palate offering citrus notes, star fruit and a good oak balance.

The slight tartness is balanced well with the residual sugar in this off dry wine. Would pair well with lemon pepper chicken, or even a lemon cheesecake.

Good to Know

Chardonnay is perhaps the most versatile grape on Earth. While its origins lie in Burgundy, it is hardy and grows well in many different soils and terroir around the globe.

Winemakers in general have always loved it because they could put their imprint on the grape and, when the intent is to create wines that are a reflection of a winemaker's skills, it makes for a perfect canvas.
