This wine boasts refined aromatics of dark berry, vanilla, and spice and expresses our vineyards' own mountain terroir through layered flavors of black currant, plum, cedar and dried herbs. A terrific wine served on its own or with rack of lamb. This wine is developing really well in the bottle and keeps getting better every time we try it.
This is a Bordeaux Style Blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Merlot, Malbec all grown on our vineyards. It is a co-fermented field blend, meaning all of the grapes are fermented in the same tank together--This is not a common practice. It is aged in 50% French and 50% Hugarian Oak. Fruit Forward, light bodied red with an earthy spice.

Meritage, pronounced like heritage, first appeared in the late 1980s after a group of American vintners joined forces to create a name for New World wines blended in the tradition of Bordeaux. A wine cannot be called a Bordeaux blend unless it is grown in the Bordeaux region of France. In order to have the word Meritage on your bottle of wine, your winery must belong to the Meritage alliance and pay dues annually.
The word was selected from more than 6,000 entries in an international contest. Meritage combines "merit," reflecting the quality of the grapes, with "heritage," which recognizes the centuries-old tradition of blending, long considered to be the highest form of the winemaker's art. Meritage wines are growing in popularity and are currently the second fastest growing wine category in the industry. They are highly regarded for their aging potential, yet are completely approachable in their youth.
